I’m a big fan of Lionel Messi, not just because my partner is from Argentina, but because he is without a doubt, the best football player in the world.
It seems that I’m not the only one who likes him as it only took a few hours for Leo to gain almost 7 million fan Likes and 40,000 interactions (comments and comment-Likes) after joining Facebook.
If you read this in the next 15 minutes, Lionel will likely have overtaken Federer in 6th position (6.745 million fans).
At this rate, he is set to overtake Ricardo Kaka (5th position on 6.772), Kobe Bryant (4th position on 7.575 ) and will surely close the gap and overtake David Beckham (8.961 in 3rd position) in the first day or two.
Look out Christian Ronaldo, you may have 23 million fans, but your days to have the most fans on Facebook are numbered!
How many fans do you think Leo will have in the first 24 hours?
Update: It’s been suggested to me that Messi may have had the help from ‘the powers that be’ at Facebook who are able to, in special circumstances, gather all unofficial Pages on said brand/person/band etc and migrate them to the official account. So while the rise may not have been so fast in terms of Likes, the interaction with the comments was extremely high in the first two posts.
